Meridian throws combined no-hitter, clinches No. 1 seed

Meridian’s baseball team clinched the No. 1 seed in the Class 1A Northwest Conference Bi-District tournament after defeating Blaine 2-0 on Monday, May 4, at Pipeline Fields.

Derek Campfield earned the win and Tanner Tutterrow got the save in a combined no-hitter for the Trojans. Dalton Biehle went 1 for 4 with a double and Devyn Holmes went 2 for 3 to lead Meridian at the plate.

“We’re priming for districts right now. This was an important game for us,” Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview.

Meridian will take on Cascade next in the Class 1A NWC Bi-District tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at Joe Martin Field. Blaine will take on Ferndale next at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, on the road.
