Moore pitches complete game in Squalicum’s 8-0 win

Harper Moore pitched a complete game shutout and only allowed one hit in Squalicum’s baseball team’s 8-0 win against Mount Baker on Monday, May 4, at Joe Martin Field.

“He had good stuff today,” Squalicum coach John Inge said in a phone interview. “Kept the ball down and pitched a nice ball game.”

The Storm’s Moore earned his fourth win of the season and Jesse Wardle received the loss for Mount Baker. Squalicum led the game 2-0 until the team scored six runs in the sixth inning with two outs.

“For five and two-thirds innings, Wardle pitched a heck of a game,” Inge said. “We ended up getting some big hits in the sixth (inning).”

Jack Boysen went 1 for 1 with a run scored and two RBI, Connor Sage went 1 for 2 with a double, two RBI and a run scored to lead Squalicum at the plate.

Squalicum will take on Lynden next at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at Joe Martin Field. Mount Baker will play Meridian next at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at home.
