Haugen has five RBI in to lead Meridian in an 18-8 win

Bailey Haugen went 5 for 5 with five RBI to lead Meridian’s softball team to an 18-8 win against Squalicum on Friday, May 1, at Meridian High School.

The Trojans scored 10 runs in the third inning en route to their victory. Madeline Gray went 2 for 3 with two RBI and Bailey Carpenter and Emma Weg both went 1 for 2 with an RBI at the plate.

“Squalicum had seven walks and we took advantage,” Meridian coach Megan Monaghan said in a phone interview. “Our bats came alive today.”

Meridian will play Anacortes next at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, on the road. Squalicum will take on Ferndale next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at home.
