Maley knocks in 6 RBI to lead Ferndale in 14-4 win

Lauren Maley went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double and six RBI to lead Ferndale’s softball team to a 14-4 victory against Blaine on Friday, May 1, at Ferndale High School.

The Golden Eagles’ Amanda Baker earned the win and the Borderites’ Lyric Berry received the loss. Ferndale used a seven-run third inning to secure the win.

“We settled in and adjusted our swings and timing,” Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview.

Abigail Bauthues went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Amanda Baker went 3 for 3 with an RBI to lead Ferndale. Blaine’s Berry went 2 for 3, Hanna Kiele went 3 for 3 with a triple and an RBI and Riley Miller went 2 for 3 at the plate.

Ferndale will take on Squalicum next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, on the road. Blaine will play Sehome next at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Geri Fields.
