Miles’ 3-run triple leads Mount Baker to 11-1 win

Mount Baker’s softball team scored seven runs in the second inning en route to an 11-1 victory against Blaine in five innings on Tuesday, April 28, at Mount Baker High School.

The Mountaineers scored three runs in the second inning before Jordan Miles hit a three-run triple to extend the lead to six runs.

“That was a big hit for us,” Mount Baker coach Ron Lepper said in a phone interview. “We did a nice job in the fourth (inning) following up with four more runs.”

Akemi Schwinden went 3 for 3 and Madie Gates went 2 for 2 at the plate for Mount Baker. Mikayla Deming and Jolee Russell went 1 for 2 for Blaine.

Mount Baker will take on Ferndale next at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at home. Blaine will play Anacortes next at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Pipeline Fields.
