Lynden holds off Nooksack Valley comeback in 13-7 win

Anthony Garcia went 2 for 4 with a double, three runs and four RBI to lead Lynden’s baseball team to a 13-7 victory over Nooksack Valley on Tuesday, April 28, at Lynden High School.

Garcia also earned his second win of the season on the mound for the Lions. Ryan Gelwicks received the loss for the Pioneers.

“We played extremely well. Ran the bases and took advantage of their miscues,” Lynden coach Cory White said in a phone interview. “I credit them (Nooksack Valley) for coming back and putting seven on the board. Their kids never gave up.”

Dawson Ohligschlager went 2 for 4 with two RBI and Jordan Wittenberg went 1 for 4 with a triple and three runs scored for the Lions. Noah Rawls went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Gelwicks went 2 for 4 with an RBI to lead the Pioneers.

Lynden will take on Anacortes next at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at home. Nooksack Valley will play Mount Baker next at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at home.
