Costly error results in 7-1 loss for Meridian

An error on a routine ground ball proved to be the difference of the game for Meridian’s baseball team in its 7-1 loss against Anacortes on Tuesday, April 28, at Anacortes High School.

Anacortes had a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when the fielding error by the Trojans allowed three runs to score.

“That was the turning point of the game,” Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. “That one was a biggy.”

Brady Moore and Derek Campfield went 1 for 3 to lead Meridian at the plate.

Meridian will take on Bellingham next at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at home.
