Blaine’s baseball team suffered a 2-1 loss in 10 innings to Anacortes on Friday, April 24, at Pipeline Fields in a Northwest Conference game.
Josh Fakkema led the Borderites at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a run scored. The Seahawks’ Ty Johnson knocked in both his team’s runs and was 3 for 5.
“It was a well-pitched game,” Blaine coach Larry Hoffman said in a phone interview. “Jonathan Starcer pitched the first six for us, Irving pitched the first seven for them. We let them off the hook a couple of times, and they did, too. Josh had a nice day; he put the ball in play four times, and did what we needed him to do — get hits in the middle of the lineup.”
Ben Hodgin was also 2 for 4 for Blaine, with the team’s only RBI. Anthony Ball hit a double for the Borderites.
