Hannah Rothwell hit a grand slam to lift Lynden’s softball team to a 10-2 win against Sehome on Thursday, April 23, at Frank Geri Fields.
Sehome jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first inning, but was unable to push anymore runs across. Rothwell’s grand slam came in the fourt inning to make it a 6-2 Lynden lead.
“For almost four innings it was a good game. That was the difference in the game at that point,” Sehome coach Jim Emerson said in a phone interview. “Good teams will take it to you if you open that door.”
Jenny McIntyre went 3 for 4 with a run scored and Morgan Henry went 1 for 2 with a double and two RBI to lead the Mariners. Benson went 1 for 3 with a home run, two runs and an RBI, Elisa Kooiman went 3 for 4 with a double and a run for the Lions.
