Bellingham’s baseball team responded to a first-inning 3-0 deficit to take a 9-5 Northwest Conference win over Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, April 23, at Joe Martin Stadium in Bellingham. The Red Raiders benefited from five Sedro-Woolley errors.
Ethan Paxton earned the win for the Red Raiders in his first varsity pitching experience. Owen Jewell was 2 for 4 with an RBI to lead Bellingham at the plate.
“The mound was wet and it was kind of sloppy,” Bellingham coach David Farrell said in a phone interview. “Both defenses didn’t come out all that great. We were able to respond in the first inning and tacked on later to pull away a bit.”
Dante Check’s base running also impressed Farrell, as Check swiped three bags and scored a run for Bellingham.
Bellingham is back in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at Joe Martin Stadium against Burlington-Edison.
