Eliza Rossman pitched two innings and struck out all six batters she faced to lead Bellingham’s softball team in its 16-1 win against Friday Harbor on Wednesday, April 22, at Bellingham High School.
The Red Raiders scored eight runs in the second inning. Rossman went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI, Lindsey Richard went 2 for 3 with two doubles and three RBI, Paige Jacobsen went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI and Carrie Latimer went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBI.
“We’re scoring every inning, which is a good sign,” Bellingham coach Rick Ellis said in a phone interview. “What I’m most excited about is we’re 13 games into the season and Bellingham softball is in a position to be a factor in the postseason.”
Richard pitched the last two innings of the game, allowing two hits and a run.
Bellingham will take on Squalicum next at 4 p.m. Friday, April 24, on the road.
