Storm cruise behind Stealy’s shutout

David Stealy pitched a complete game shutout and Squalicum’s baseball team topped Sedro-Woolley 7-0 in a Northwest Conference contest on Tuesday, April 21, at Joe Martin Stadium.

Ernie Yake and Ben Tripp combined to go 5 for 7 on the afternoon, a good sign for the Storm, coach John Inge said in a phone interview.

“Those are key offensive guys to start to heat up. They haven’t been slumping, they just haven’t been hot,” Inge said.

Stealy struck out five and only allowed two walks in the outing.

“He didn’t have his A-game stuff, but he pitched a heck of a game,” Inge said. “He knows how to pitch and did a nice job.”

The Storm play Meridian on Thursday, April 23, on the road.
