Pioneers sweep doubleheader with Cashmere

Nooksack Valley’s softball team swept a twinbill with Cashmere, 10-6 in game one and 8-5 in game two, for a pair of nonconference wins on Friday, April 17, at Cashmere.

Alexis Pike earned wins No. 6 and No. 7 on the season in the circle, also going a combined 6 for 8 at the plate with three RBI in the doubleheader.

Olivia Berkan pitched in a 4-for-4 effort in the second game, with a pair of RBI, and Brianna Turner went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI in the nightcap.

“We felt really good about our approach we took at the plate today,” Nooksack Valley coach Tom Harmon said in a phone interview. “Alexis and Olivia did a good job in the circle throwing ground balls and fly balls.”

The Pioneers out-hit Cashmere by a combined 27-16 margin.

Nooksack Valley is back in action at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at Chelan for another doubleheader.
