Borderites stymie LC comeback for 8-7 win

Blaine’s softball team held off Lynden Christian after a late rally for an 8-7 Northwest Conference win on Friday, April 17, at Lynden Christian.

Lyric Berry led the Borderites to the win, going 3 for 4 at the plate with three runs scored and earning the win in the circle.

Sam Van Loo suffered the loss for Lynden Christian, but was 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles and a pair of RBI.

“We were down 4-1 at one point and battled back to tie it in the fifth,” Lynden Christian coach Mitch Moorlag said in a phone interview. “Then we had a couple costly miscues in the field that allowed them to get four in the sixth. We battled back again and had the game-tying run on third to end the game.”

Lynden Christian hosts Squalicum at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at home. Blaine hosts Bellingham at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Pipeline Fields.
