Benson allows one hit in the circle, adds a homerun at the plate in Lynden’s 13-0 victory

Tanna Benson took a no-hitter into the bottom of the fifth inning and allowed only one hit to lead Lynden’s softball team to its 13-0 win against Bellingham on Thursday, April 16, at Bellingham High School.

Red Raiders Paige Jacobsen got the one hit to break up the no-hitter. Lions Benson went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, Catyler Alex went 3 for 3.

“We didn’t strike out much. We put the ball in play and they (Lynden) made plays,” Bellingham coach Rick Ellis said in a phone interview.

Eliza Rossman struck out eight batters for Bellingham inside the circle.

Lynden will take on Meridian next at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at home. Bellingham takes on Blaine next at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Pipeline Fields.
