Felix Zavisubin pitched a two-hitter to lead Sehome’s baseball team over Lynden 1-0 in a Northwest Conference game on Thursday, April 16, at Joe Martin Stadium.
The Mariners’ man on the mound struck out four Lions to earn his third win of the season.
“Felix was dominant. His breaking ball was working, his change-up was good, which made his fastball look that much faster,” Sehome coach Gary Hatch said in a phone interview. “He had good command. It was one of those uncomfortable at-bats, you could tell they were off-balance.”
Aaron Nichols was 2 for 3 and scored the Mariners lone run on Owen Wright’s only hit of the game. Wright went 1 for 3.
Sehome had a tough time on the base paths with Lynden catcher Cole Marlowe throwing out three attempted steals, Hatch said.
Sehome looks for another win at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Meridian. Lynden is off until 4 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at home against Burlington-Edison.
