Borderites suffer 1-hit loss

Blaine’s baseball team couldn’t capitalize on a well-pitched game by Cody Gobbato in a 3-0 loss to Sedro-Woolley in a Northwest Conference game on Thursday, April 16, at Janicki Fields.

Gobbato allowed just one earned run, as the other two resulted from some of the Borderites four errors.

“Cody pitched well enough to win, we just should have supported him better and we might have been able to sneak out with a win,” Blaine coach Larry Hoffman said in a phone interview. “We just didn’t hit the baseball. That’s two games in a row where we’ve just not hit the baseball.”

Ben Hodgin had the Borderites’ only hit, going 1 for 2 at the plate.

Blaine looks to bounce back at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Mount Baker.
