Meridian commits five errors in its 16-5 loss

Meridian’s softball team fell victim to a nine-run third inning by Sedro-Woolley in its 16-5 loss Wednesday, April 15, at Meridian High School.

Eve Castro received the loss for the Trojans. Keana Waugh went 1 for 2 with two walks, Bailey Haugen had an RBI and Sophia Shook went 1 for 3 with two RBI.

Meridian committed five errors in the field during the game.

“If we eliminate those mental and physical errors, we would’ve been right in the game,” Meridian coach Megan Monaghan said in a phone interview. “We didn’t give up, got bases loaded in the last two innings but we need to figure out how to get the runners in.”

Meridian will take on Ferndale next at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 16, on the road.
