Mount Baker’s baseball team suffered a 16-0 five-inning loss to Burlington-Edison in a Northwest Conference game on Tuesday, April 14, at Mount Baker.
Colton Zender was 1 for 2 and Ruvim Tikhonov was 1 for 1 for the Mountaineers’ only two hits. The Tigers exploded for 13 hits in the contest.
“Our pitchers struggled to consistently find the zone, and when we did they did a good job of hitting,” Mount Baker coach Derek Johnson said in a phone interview. “They had four extra-base hits, so they got guys on and moved them around the bases quickly.”
Mount Baker’s defense was on point, committing just one error in the loss.

“We had guys in the right position to make plays,” Johnson said. “There were a couple of diving plays that didn’t quite get there, but the effort was positive.”
Mount Baker gets a chance to practice before it is in action at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at La Conner.
