Lions top Trojans, 3-1

Anthony Garcia threw a complete game to lead Lynden to a 3-1 Northwest Conference win over Meridian on Tuesday, April 14, at Lynden.

Garcia had five strikeouts, and gave up three hits, four walks and an earned run to take the win for the Lions.

Jordan Wittenberg was 2 for 3 with a pair of stolen bases and runs. Jared House was also 2 for 3 with a run scored for Lynden.

“The big thing with Anthony is that now he is able to go deeper into games,” Lynden coach Cory White said in a phone interview. “Jordan stole home and scored from second on a fielders choice. He’s a very good high school base runner, very instinctual.”

Tanner Tutterrow was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Dalton Biehle went 1 for 3 with a run for Meridian. Biehle also took the loss on the mound.

Lynden takes on Sehome at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at Joe Martin Stadium. Meridian hosts Lynden Christian at 4 p.m. the same day.
