Lyric Berry pitched an eight-inning complete game to lead Blaine’s softball team to an 11-6 victory over Cascade on Friday, April 10, at Peshastin-Dryden Sports Complex.
Berry earned her second win of the season for the Borderites. Riley Miller went 3 for 5 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI. Brittaney Carrington went 3 for 5 with a run and two RBI. Mikayla Deming went 2 for 5 with a run and three RBI.
“We were just on it today,” Blaine coach Alisa Burk said in a phone interview. “We were able to hit the ball really well. Hitting is contagious and it proved itself today.”
But what impressed Burk the most was the pitching performance from Berry.

“This was the best performance I’ve seen her have in two years,” she said. “For her to give up only six hits in eight innings. That was huge for her to improve as a softball player.”
Blaine will take on Cashmere in a doubleheader next at noon Saturday, April 11, in an away game.
