Meridian starts off slow in 8-3 loss

Meridian’s baseball team started slow for the second straight game and couldn’t catch up in its 8-3 defeat against Cascade on Friday, April 10, at Peshastin-Dryden Sports Complex.

Tanner Tutterrow received the loss for the Trojans. Brady Moore went 2 for 4 and Derek Campfield went 1 for 4 at the plate.

“We came out of the gates and laid an egg. Made three errors in two innings. We got sluggish and didn’t get it done,” Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. “They (Cascade) are a good hitting team, as good as we’ve faced this year.”

The four runs in the first inning were all unearned. Slesk highlighted Tutterrow for pitching well throughout the game.

Meridian will take on Lynden next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, on the road.
