Squalicum gives up late home run in 5-4 loss

Squalicum’s softball team jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after two innings, but a late comeback by Friday Harbor erased the Storm’s lead in its 5-4 loss on Monday, April 6, at Friday Harbor High School.

Dakota Littlefield received the loss for the Storm in the game. Anna Wilson went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Littlefield went 2 for 2 at the plate to lead Squalicum.

“We played good defense, held them to not a lot of runs and our pitching was good,” Squalicum coach Loran Zenonian said in a phone interview. “We just kind of ran out of gas at the end of the game and Friday Harbor put together some hits.”

The Friday Harbor comeback was capped off by a two-run home run by Wickman in the sixth inning.

Squalicum takes on Nooksack Valley next at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Nooksack Valley Middle School.
