Campfield holds Sedro-Woolley to 2 hits

Meridian’s baseball team scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning and Derek Campfield put away Sedro-Woolley for a 2-0 Northwest Conference win on Monday, April 6, at Meridian.

Campfield pitched a complete game, giving up one walk and two hits while striking out four in the win. He also added a hit, going 1 for 2 at the plate.

“Derek pitched a good ball game,” Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. “He was pretty much in control and for the most part we played good defense behind him, other than those two errors. We have three pretty good guys, so we’re fortunate with the pitching depth. Tanner (Tutterrow) had a good game Saturday and now Derek.”

Tutterrow finished 1 for 3 with an RBI. Brady Moore was also 1 for 1.

Meridian plays again at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Ferndale in an NWC match-up.
