Ferndale gives up 3 first inning runs in 3-2 loss

Ferndale’s baseball team gave up three runs in the first inning and its comeback fell short in a 3-2 loss against Mount Vernon on Monday, April 6, at Sherman Anderson Fields.

The Golden Eagles’ Corbin Puhan received his first loss of the season. Nate Carlson went 2 for 3 with a run scored and Kyle Sandstrom went 1 for 1.

“We started out sluggish,” Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview. “It was a pretty good ball game. Both teams were throwing strikes and making plays. We just fell on the wrong end of the scoreboard today.”

Ferndale will take on Meridian next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at home.
