Sehome’s baseball team broke up a perfect game and no-hitter by Bellingham’s Brad Johnson in the seventh inning of its 3-0 loss Monday, April 6, at Joe Martin Field.
Johnson gave up a walk in the seventh inning to break up the perfect game and Sehome’s Owen Wright broke up the no-hitter with the team’s only hit in the seventh as well.
Austin Shenton had nine assists at shortstop for the Red Raiders in a game where neither team committed an error in the field.
“That was as good of a pitching job I’ve seen in this league in a longtime,” Sehome coach Gary Hatch said in a phone interview. “(Johnson) had us rolling the ball over and (Shenton) was making plays. They pitched to contact and we didn’t hit the ball much.”
Sehome takes on Nooksack Valley next at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, on the road and Bellingham will play Lynden next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Joe Martin Field.
