Golden Eagles bounce back with close win over Oak Harbor

Ferndale’s baseball team held off Oak Harbor for a 5-4 win on Thursday, April 2, at home.

The Golden Eagles were leading 3-0 going into the sixth when Oak Harbor came back with a pair of runs. Ferndale added two insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning, but Nate Carlson came on to get the save. He allowed a sac fly before striking out the final batter.

Migel Mungarro earned the win for Ferndale, improving to 2-0. Matt James was 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI. Kyler Brudwick was also 2 for 4 with a run.

“Getting home late after a tough game last night and answering the bell today, I was proud of our guys for their performance in their fourth game in four days,” Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview.

Ferndale takes on Mount Vernon at 4 p.m. Monday, April 6, at Anderson Field in Mount Vernon.
