Storm softball uses big inning to beat Meridian

Squalicum scored nearly all its runs during the fourth inning and earned a 9-7 non-league win over Meridian on Wednesday, April 1, in Laurel.

The Trojans led 2-0 after the third, but Squalicum recorded six hits and took advantage of a couple errors to score eight runs in the top of the fourth.

“Squalicum has improved,” Meridian coach Megan Monaghan said in a phone interview. “They didn’t make any errors on defense. We didn’t give up. We scored almost every inning, but we just had that one bad inning where they got runners on.”

Squalicum’s Anna Wilson went 3 for 5, and Kaeli Anderson was 3 for 4 with a home run. Dakota Littlefield earned the win. The Trojans were led by outfielder Keana Waugh, who went 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI.
