Meridian’s baseball team got a good pitching performance from Dalton Biehle, but errors and Burlington-Edison pitcher Drew Larson were able to hold off the Trojans in a 5-1 Meridian loss on Tuesday, March 31, at Burlington-Edison in a Northwest Conference game.
“Dalton pitched his butt off tonight. He’s been a tough-luck loser of a couple games, but he came in and had them off balance,” Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. “This game came down to they took care of the baseball and we didn’t. The three errors were key for three unearned runs.”
Biehle went five innings, striking out four and giving up four walks and four hits. The three errors were what allowed the Tigers to pull away.
Dawson Phillips was 1 for 3 with a double to lead Meridian, and Biehle and Tanner Tutterrow were each 1 for 3. Burlington-Edison coach John Thurmond told Slesk that was the best Larson had been hit this season, Slesk said.
