Squalicum’s baseball team earned a 7-2 win over Blaine on Monday, March 30, at Pipeline Fields.
The game was scoreless going into the fifth inning, but the Storm rallied for five runs and added one run in the each of the final two innings to build a lead. Blaine scored a pair of runs on Rudy Nolasco’s hit in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn’t put together enough to finish off the comeback.
Jalen Kortlever and Jared Vogee also went 1 for 2 with a run each for Blaine. Squalicum coach John Inge complemented the Borderites’ improvement this season.
“Based on what I’ve seen score-wise and thus far, they played well,” he said in a phone interview. “We finally got some clutch hits. We bunched some hits together with five hits in the fifth.”
