Lions roll past Trojans

Lynden’s softball team had no problems with Meridian in a 16-0 five-inning win on Friday, March 27, at Meridian High School.

Hannah Rothwell picked up the win and hit two doubles. Mandy Warner and Jenna Bonsen also got three hits on the day.

“They’re just a good all-around hitting team,” Meridian coach Megan Monaghan said in a phone interview. “They didn’t get nothing real big, they just hit in the gaps.”

Meridian got two hits apiece from Eve Castro and Keana Waugh. Castro also pitched two innings and got two strikeouts and Emma Weg pitched three innings with two strikeouts.

Meridian plays Burlington-Edison on Monday, March 30, on the road. Lynden plays Lynden Christian on Tuesday, March 31, at LC Middle School.
