Rossman strikes out nine in four innings for Bellingham

Eliza Rossman struck out nine Squalicum softball players and had no walks to lead Bellingham to a 17-2 win in four innings in a nonconference game on Friday, March 27, at Bellingham.

Bellingham also had big offensive contributions from Jasmin Lopez and Justina Allen. Lopez was 2 for 3 with two doubles, three runs and four RBI, and Allen was 2 for 4 with four RBI.

“We were patient at the plate,” Bellingham coach Rick Ellis said in a phone interview. “We didn’t chase bad pitches and took what they gave us and showed some discipline at the plate. Eliza is pitching well so far, so that’s a good start. I was proud of our overall effort.”

Squalicum’s Sheffy Williams was a bright spot, going 2 for 2 with a run scored.

Bellingham’s next game is a Northwest Conference match-up with Ferndale at 4 p.m. Monday, March 30, at Ferndale. Squalicum also has a Northwest Conference game at 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 30, at Pipeline Fields against Blaine.
