Bellingham’s softball team gave up three unearned runs in the first in its 6-2 loss against Nooksack Valley on Thursday, March 26, at Bellingham High School.
After the first inning struggles, the Red Raiders played Nooksack Valley close.
“I saw our team battle up there,” Bellingham coach Rick Ellis said in a phone interview. “For the most part it was a 3-2 ball game. To handle ourselves that well against a Nooksack program is a good sign were moving in the right direction.”
Alexis Pike earned the win for the Pioneers, Eliza Rossman recieved the loss for the Red Raiders.
Bellingham’s Justina Allen went 2 for 3 with a run scored, Lindsey Richard went 1 for 3 with a run scored and Paige Jacobsen went 1 for 3 with two RBI. Nooksack Valley’s Brianna Turner went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI, Cassidy Zylstra went 2 for 4 with three RBI and Olivia Berkan went 2 for 3.
Bellingham takes on Squalicum next on Friday, March 26, at home and Nooksack Valley takes on Meridian next at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, on the road.
