Yost hits walk-off single in the ninth in Mount Baker’s 4-3 win

Emily Yost hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to give Mount Baker’s softball team a 4-3 win against Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, March 26, at Mount Baker High School.

The Mountaineers’ survived the top of the ninth with Sara Verry converting an unassisted double play.

Aleks Toivola earned her third win of the season. Jordan Miles went 2 for 5 with a double. Emily Brandland went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI. Kaylea Sleveland went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI.

“This is the first time we’ve beaten Sedro-Woolley since I’ve been coaching,” Ron Lepper said in a phone interview. “For us to get through that, it was a good test for us.”

Mount Baker takes on Sehome next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at Geri Fields.
