Mariners get 1-hit by Tigers

Sehome’s baseball team got one hit as it ran into a hot pitcher in Burlington-Edison’s Drew Larson in a 3-1 Northwest Conference loss on Thursday, March 26, at Burlington-Edison.

Felix Zavisubin got the only hit for Sehome, also knocking in the one run.

“Drew is the best guy we’ve seen this year,” Sehome coach Gary Hatch said in a phone interview. “Everything was at the knees. He mixed his pitches well, threw a good hard slider, a change-up. We just looked over-matched and you have to tip your cap. I thought we played okay defense, but we made a few of what I consider inexperienced errors. In the infield, had a few guys out of position, had a ball misplayed in center field, those kinds of little things that you have to get yourself acclimated to the game.”

Hatch also noted that Larson induced 12 ground outs by the Mariners.

Sehome hosts Mount Baker at 4 p.m. Monday, March 30, at Joe Martin Stadium.
