Mount Baker managed only two hits as it suffered a 5-0 loss to Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, March 26, at home in a Northwest Conference game.
The Mountaineers’ Colton Ranson pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up three earned runs, while tallying 10 strikeouts and eight walks. His counterpart from Sedro-Woolley threw six innings, striking out 12 Mounties.
“If you enjoy pitching, you’d have enjoyed this one,” Mount Baker coach Derek Johnson said in a phone interview. “The pitchers were on target tonight. We had a couple errors that cost us a couple runs in the second inning, but for the most part we were strong defensively. Ranson gave us a chance to win. He was a little wild at times, which allowed some of those errors to cost us some runs, but for the most part he was pretty solid.”
Ranson also had one of the team’s two hits, as Chad Cohn added the other.
