Lynden’s offense smashed Seattle Prep to the tune of 17 hits in a 14-2 six-inning win over the Panthers in a nonconference game on Wednesday, March 25, at Bobby Morris Playfield in Seattle.
Hannah Rothwell, Jenna Bonsen and Elisa Kooiman each had a home run for the Lions on the open, fence-less field. Sara Collins was also 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBI.
Rothwell also got the win in the circle, improving to 3-0 this season. She struck out five in a complete game.
“We put some balls in the gaps and got some extra-base hits,” Lynden coach Steve Peterson said in a phone interview. “That’s kind of where we put the ball. Hannah pitched pretty well. She was able to let her defense play behind her.”
