LC softball too much for Squalicum

Lynden Christian’s softball team raced out to a double-digit lead and rolled to an 18-6 non-league victory in six innings over Squalicum on Tuesday, March 24, at Squalicum High School.

To the Storm’s credit, it battled back after trailing 10-0 after three, but the Lyncs’ offense was strong throughout the game.

“You know, it’s a young season, but it was certainly our best game of the year — no errors, played hard,” Squalicum coach Loran Zenonian said in a phone interview.

Squalicum scored six runs in the final three innings, but LC scored eight. Lyncs pitcher Allison Smit earned the win, and she also went 2 for 3 at the plate with two triples and two RBI.

Squalicum’s Anna Wilson was 2 for 2 with two runs and two RBI, while Sheffy Williams was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

The Storm (0-3) travel to play Bellingham next at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, while Lynden Christian (1-1) hosts Ferndale next at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26.
