Mariners keep Anacortes at bay

Sehome’s softball team held off a late surge by Anacortes for an 8-6 non-conference win on Tuesday, March 24, at Sehome.

The Mariners were up 5-0 in the top of the fourth before Anacortes rallied for six runs thanks to two of Sehome’s three errors. Morgan Henry hit a two-run home run in the bottom half of the inning to give her Sehome team the lead again for good. Henry finished 3 for 3 with 3 runs, 3 RBI, a triple, a home run and a walk.

Mallory Kruzich got the win in the circle for the Mariners, improving to 3-2 on the year.

“It was a really good game. We got good contributions by everybody,” Sehome coach Jim Emerson said in a phone interview. “Mallory looked good, just the one bad inning and I think she only had one earned run. Their three and four hitters are as good as they come and she only gave up one run to each.”

Sehome takes on Cascade from Everett at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Frank Geri Fields.
