Maley strikes out 11 to lead Ferndale in 18-7 win

Lauren Maley struck out 11 batters as the Ferndale girls’ softball team defeated Mountlake Terrace 18-7 on Friday, March 20, at Mountlake Terrace High School.

Maley also batted 2 for 3 with two RBI. Abigail Bauthues went 4 for 4 with a home run and two RBI for the Golden Eagles.

“We worked well in our at-bats. Saw a lot of pitches and that went really well for us,” Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview. “We had some solid defense in the outfield.”

The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 6-1 lead after the first inning and ended the game with a seven-run seventh inning.

Ferndale will take on Blaine next at 4 p.m. Monday, March 23, at home.
