Blaine’s softball team struck first in the bottom of the first inning. But Nooksack Valley’s seven-run seventh inning sealed the Borderites’ 14-3 defeat Thursday, March 19, at Pipeline Fields.
“The first three innings looked great for us. (Nooksack Valley) strung some hits and had a big inning,” Blaine coach Alisa Burk said in a phone interview.
Alexis Pike earned the win for the Pioneers and Lyric Berry received the loss for the Borderites.
Nooksack Valley’s Arlissa Oettel went 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBI, Pike went 3 for 5 with four RBI. Blaine’s Daphne Pugh went 2 for 2 and Lexi Greguski went 1 for 3 with a run scored.

The Borderites will play Ferndale next at 4 p.m. Monday, March 23, on the road and The Pioneers take on Mount Baker next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Mount Baker.
