Nooksack Valley’s softball team kicked off the season with an emphatic 12-2 win over Bellingham in five innings on Wednesday, March 18, at home.
“I’m sure both teams were glad to get out and play someone,” Nooksack Valley coach Tom Harmon said in a phone interview. “It was 12-2, but the game was much closer than that. We had a couple good opportunities we took advantage of and that was the difference. We were fortunate to get the right hits at the right time.”
Brianna Turner led the Pioneers, going 2 for 2 with a pair of home runs, three runs scored and five RBI. Alexis Pike was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Lindsey Richard was 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead Bellingham.
