Squalicum starts strong in 5-2 win

Squalicum’s baseball team started off scoring in the opening three innings in its 5-2 victory over Meridian on Tuesday, March 17, at Squalicum High School.

Connor Sage earned the win for Squalicum and Derek Campfield received the loss for Meridian.

Meridian wasn’t able to get a run across the plate until the sixth inning.

“It was beautiful baseball the first four innings. We manufactured runs,” Squalicum coach John Inge said in a phone interview. “(Meridian) hit the ball hard and we made great defensive plays.”

The Storm’s Carter Nickelson went 1 for 2 with an RBI and a stolen base, Kyle Little went 1 for 3 with a double and David Stealy went 1 for 2, scoring a run. The Trojans’ Erick Price went 1 for 3 and Dalton Biehle went 1 for 3 with a double.

Squalicum will play Archbishop Murphy next at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at home. Meridian takes on Mount Baker next at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at home.
