Ferndale’s defense key in victory

Ferndale’s baseball team scored three runs in the third inning en route to its 7-2 victory over Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, March 17, at Sedro-Woolley High School.

The Golden Eagles’ Corbin Puhan earned the win and Sedro-Woolley’s Olsen received the loss.

Connor Erickson went 2 for 3 with two RBI and Kyler Brudwick went 2 for 4 with two RBI for Ferndale.

“(Sedro-Woolley) had a decent seventh inning on us,” Ferndale coach Donny Hennings said in a phone interview. “Corbin had a good first game striking out five batters with no walks. It was a good clean game for the first game of the year.”

Ferndale takes on Lynden next at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 17, on the road.
