Ferndale out-slugs Lynden, 12-9

Ferndale’s softball team held on to defeat Lynden in an offensive battle, 12-9 on Monday, March 16, at Lynden in a nonconference game. The two teams combined for six home runs in the slugfest.

Kadence Kane and Drew Westford, the middle of Ferndale’s batting lineup, combined go go 8 for 10 with three home runs.

“That’s what you want out of the meat of the order, that impressed me,” Lynden coach Steve Peterson said in a phone interview. “I was impressed with our girls coming back from down 8-0. We actually had the tying run on base in the sixth. It was a wild, sloppy affair.”

Kaylee Vis led the Lions, going 3 for 4 with a home run.

Lynden takes on Blaine at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Pipeline Fields. Ferndale hosts Sedro-Woolley at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at home.
