Outlook: The Lyncs are in an interesting stage right now. They just graduated seven starters but have a load of talent ready to step up. For coach Mitch Moorlag this presents an exciting but scary moment heading into the year. “We had a talented class last year that was pretty successful,” Moorlag said in a phone interview. “Now we have this group stepping up and saying it’s my turn to take the reins.” Heading that group is senior Jenah Korthuis, who bats leadoff and play center field, first baseman and outfielder Lauren Huleatt and outfielder/shortstop Colee Van Weerdhuizen. Sophomore Ellie Vander Veen will play a little left field and shortstop and senior Allison Smit will get a lot of work in the circle. “We’re looking to her to really lead us by example. She’ll pitch a lot of innings for us,” Moorlag said.
