“It’s a course they’re not familiar with and I thought they played well,” Ferndale coach Joel Wark said in a phone interview. “I thought all the kids did a nice job keeping their cool. It’s hard to do on an unfamiliar course.”
After the first day of the district tournament the field is cut to the top 36 and anyone within 10 strokes of the lead. The top 17 golfers from day two will advance to the state tournament set to take place on May 27 and 28 at Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick.
“Looking at scores, a 165 or better overall should be good enough to go (to state),” Wark said.
