Ben Henrikson (above) will be one of several Red Raiders looking to put together a great round of golf with a 2A state tournament berth on the line during the district tournament at Snohomish Golf Course. Bellingham’s Nick Nolan and Lynden’s Ezra Arneson will be two others to watch.
Class 2A District Tennis Tournament
Tuesday, May 19
Sehome’s Andrea Zucchi (above) won a sub-district doubles title with playing partner Natalie Knops last week, and the duo will look for another strong performance when the district tournament rolls around. Squalicum pairing Kim Dorr and Rachel Door could also snag a state berth.
Class 2A District Softball Tournament
Wednesday, May 20
Top-seeded Lynden and Hannah Rothwell (above) will be hoping to earn a spot in the Class 2A State Tournament when district play gets underway at Janicki Fields in Sedro-Woolley. Sehome is another club to watch.
Class 1A State Baseball Tournament
Saturday, May 23
Nooksack Valley already solidified its spot in the Class 1A State Tournament with back-to-back district wins last week. Now Ryan Gelwicks (above) and the Pioneers have their sights fixed on advancing through the regional rounds to Yakima.
Class 2A District Track and Field Meet
Friday, May 22
Squalicum’s Kirsten Webber (above) is one of two Class 2A girls’ pole vaulters to clear 13 feet this year, and she’s just one of Whatcom County’s many talents that will attempt to lock up a trip to state at the district meet at Civic Stadium.
