Rusnak takes first in 3 events for LC at 1A district championships

Hannah Rusnak won three events to lead Lynden Christian’s girls’ track and field team at the Class 1A Northwest District Championships on Wednesday, May 13, at King’s High School.

Rusnak finished in first place in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet, 2 inches. She also took the top spot in the 100 with a time of 12.69 and the 100 hurdles (15.07).

Nooksack Valley’s Amy Jo Murphy finished in first place for the 3,200 after a time of 11:38.18. Janessa Murphy took the top spot in the 400 with a leading time of 1:00.26.

Payton Lunde finished in second for the 200 after prelims with a time of 26.94, 0.36 behind the first place finisher.

On the boys side, Meridian’s Marcus McGuinn took the top spot in prelims for the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles with times of 15.83 and 43.35.

Mount Baker’s Jesse Phan finished at the top spot in the 800 with a time of 2:00.57.

The Trojans’ Collin Magnusson finished in second in prelims for the 800 with a time of 2:01.77 and second in the 1,600 (4:31.33).

The 1A Northwest District championships will continue at 4 p.m. Friday, May 13, at King’s High School.
