This week’s top high school sporting events:
Class 2A District Baseball Tournament
Tuesday, May 12
at Daniels Field in Anacortes
The second round of the 2A District Tournament wil include all three city schools. Sehome, led by Jake Albert (above), will join Bellingham and Squalicum in an effort to qualify for the state tournament.

Wednesday, May 13
The Mariners, paced by pitcher Mallory Kruzich (above), will cap their season off with one of the few late evening contests of the year, as they attempt to secure postseason seeding, as Class 2A district play draws near. Both teams have already locked up postseason berths.
Class 1A District Golf Championships
Thursday, May 14
North Bellingham Golf Course will welcome the boys’ and girls’ teams from all four 1A Whatcom County teams for the district championships. Lynden Christian’s Lincoln Olson (above) will be one golfer to watch, as he returns to the postseason after making it to state last year.
Class 1A Track and Field District Championships
Friday, May 15
The 1A District Championships conclude at King’s High School and the four Class 1A Whatcom County teams will all try to get athletes into the bi-district meet. Lynden Christian’s Hannah Rusnak (above) should make some noise as a sprinter for the Lyncs.
Class 2A Boys’ Soccer District Tournament
Saturday, May 16
at Sedro-Woolley High School
Top-seeded Squalicum, led by Tyler Hughes (above), hopes it’s playing for a district title, as the Storm try to make another state run. Sehome may still be around trying to clinch a spot in the state tournament.
